Tree at Last!

THE STREET TREE was pruned today. Okay, it got done a little later than the June 9 date announced in my discussion of tree care HERE

Giving fair warning to our neighbor who parks next to the tree.

What happened in the meantime? This post updates you on this modest maintenance project.…

Unfortunately, the contractor we had picked in April then somehow let his license expire at the end of that month. He promised me in mid-May that he would get it all taken care of by our target date — but by June 8 did not appear to have done so. At that point, I asked him to hold off and to let me know when his license was restored.

I immediately contacted another certified arborist, yet they were not interested in doing such a small job. And the next one told me that it would require a 4-person crew and cost way more than had been budgeted.

So I contacted a fourth certified arborist, who lives in Venice, about a mile away. He is a landscaping contractor rather than a tree service contractor, but that seemed good enough under the circumstances.

I think you’ll agree that this tree looks SOOO much better — and happier — than after the previous pruning, shown HERE. Especially considering that the arborist was operating under a tree-care constraint: to not overstress the admittedly overgrown tree by pruning too much at one time.

The tree is happier, and so am I. Many, many thanks.
