Behind that grille is the 12" x 18" opening of a duct that curves to the horizontal, going westward across to the smaller kitchen.…
Behind the grill in the smaller kitchen is a smaller duct that likewise turns to the horizontal, going southward.…
In the attic above the kitchen, it appears that the two ducts converge.…
After they converge, the duct meets a belt-driven blower—powered by an external motor, whose ON/OFF switch is on the wall of the smaller kitchen, to the right of the large refrigerator.
The duct turns eastward and then southward, while rising to enter a vertical shaft, alongside a round exhaust vent pipe from the basement’s ladies room.…
That shaft runs behind the wall in the Ladies Lounge next to the main floor women’s restroom (and likewise in the mezzanine above that room). It’s marked in gray in this diagram.…
Finally, the duct vents above the roof, curving so that the opening faces downward and thus doesn’t admit rain.…
