BOTH FOR OUTDOOR PROJECTS and to keep tabs on water intrusion, it can be helpful to know when and how much rain has fallen. Fortunately, the County has a rain gauge close by. It’s at the Electric Avenue Pumping Plant, located at the corner of Brooks Ave.

This post pinpoints that gauge’s location relative to Mishkon. It also explains how to read the continuous online report.

How to read the report
The gauge records the condition (absence of rain) hourly, at 1 minute past the hour. Therefore for most entries, the reading is 0.00.
The gauge also records the date and time whenever 0.01" of rain registers as having fallen. And it keeps a cumulative tally.
Thus, for example, yesterday, on May 4, there were 128 entries of 0.01, meaning a total of 1.28" of rainfall within 12 hours or so.
As of today, the cumulative rainfall for the season (since October 1) is 27.60".
